All the Specs Google Didn't Share at Today's 'Launch Night In'
I’ve been covering press events for roughly 15 years or so, and in all that time, I’ve never seen a company speed through its announcements as quickly
Trying to freshen up your iPhone’s Home Screen layout? Fortunately for you, iOS 15 makes that easy. You can now easily rearrange the order of your Home Screen pages, and even hide or delete an entire Home Screen really fast. Here’s how to quickly customize your iOS 15 Home Screens.
On your iPhone, tap and hold an empty space on any Home Screen page until the app icons start jiggling. Now tap the row of dots visible above the dock. This will show you thumbnails of all the Home Screen pages on your iPhone. Hold and drag any Home Screen thumbnail to rearrange its position in the Home Screen slider. Once you’re done rearranging, tap the Done button in the top-right corner and enjoy your new layout.
If you’re tired of a few of Home Screen pages, but not yet ready to delete them completely, iOS 15 allows you to hide them. Once again, tap any blank area of the Home Screen till app icons start jiggling, and hit the row of dots above the dock. When you see thumbnails of all Home Screen pages, tap the checkmark below any of them you want to hide. Tap Done to confirm this change.
Hidden Home Screen pages will still show up on the thumbnails page, so you can go back to it and tap the circle below any thumbnail to check it and unhide that Home Screen again. Remember that unchecked Home Screen page thumbnails denote hidden pages, and checked thumbnails denote revealed home screens.
If you want to quickly remove an entire Home Screen page in iOS 15, go to the Home Screen editor page as described above. On this page, tap the checkmark below any Home Screen page thumbnail. Once it’s unchecked, tap the minus icon in the top-left corner of the thumbnail. You’ll see a confirmation pop-up, where you can tap Remove to get rid of the home screen and move the apps to the App Library. Unfortunately, all your fancy iOS widgets will be removed too, so you should move them to a different Home Screen first if you want to avoid manually re-adding them.
The most important step to keeping a clean layout on your iPhoneis to send all newly installed apps to the App Library instead of a Home Screen, and then only making easily accessible the ones you use the most. By default, all apps appear on the Home Screen, which can creates endless pages of clutter. Change that by going to Settings > Home Screen and selecting App Library Only under Newly Downloaded Apps.
If you can’t find your new app in the App Library (accessible by swiping through all your Home Screens and then swiping one final time), you can always drag your finger down the screen from any Home Screen to open up the App search bar. Also, if you long-press on any app icon from the App Library, you can choose to add it to a Home Screen.
