How to Find the Best Online Prices Using Microsoft Edge

Microsoft’s Edge browser has become a major rival to Google Chrome, providing users a similar browsing experience that exists (mostly) outside of Google’s tracking and advertising infrastructure and which carries lower resource requirements. One of Chrome’s lingering benefits, though, is its built-in Google Shopping tools on desktop and mobile that make it easy for you to shop the lowest prices online—but Microsoft is steadily closing the gap with the introduction of the Edge Chromium version 91 update. This update adds two new shopping features for desktop users: a built-in price tracker and Bing Rebates integration.

While there are many third-party price tracker add-ons available for Edge, Microsoft’s browser can now natively show you a product’s price history while you’re shopping online. To access it, open a product page on any online retailer, then click the blue price tag icon that’s you’ll see at the end of the URL bar. This will open the Edge price tracker, which will show you a graph indicating how much the item has sold for in the past and how the current price compares. The “Compare with other retailers” button allows you to see what the item costs on other websites, too.

The menu will also alert you if there are online coupons or other discount codes available, or if the purchase qualifies for the Bing Rebates program, which earns you cash back rewards when you shop through the Bing.com shopping tab or from select online stores. You must sign up and enable Bing Rebates and be signed into Edge with a Microsoft account when you make your purchase in order to take advantage of the program.

The new online shopping features are available in the Edge 91 update, which also offerss several other features and updates, including Sleeping tabs feature that boosts its memory-saving capabilities by up to 82 percent, new browser theme colors, and an overhauled New Tab page with enhanced personalized content recommendations. Go to Settings > About Microsoft Edge to download the update, or grab a fresh install from Microsoft’s download page.
