Why Are My Upload Speeds at Home So Terrible?

Despite the rising popularity of mobile gaming, it’s a lot harder to record or stream your smartphone games than your console games. To help bridge that gap, Amazon launched GameOn, a YouTube-like social media platform and video app for mobile gaming. Users can watch and follow content creators in the app, or use it to record, edit, and upload their own clips.
The app is available on Android (via Amazon or Google Play) and iOS/iPadOS, and it supports over 1,000 mobile games. Amazon doesn’t have an official list of all games, but popular titles like PUBG, Mario Kart Tour, and Genshin Impact support GameOn, and you can use it to record Apple Arcade games. You can also watch GameOn content on your desktop browser.
Before you can upload clips, you need a GameOn account. You can create a new one in the app or link to an existing Amazon account (strangely, the app does not integrate to Twitch, which Amazon also owns).
In the GameOn app, tap the “+” button at the bottom of the screen to prep a new recording.
Tap the slider at the top of the next screen to select your capture method. “Classic” will record up to 5 minutes of gameplay. This is good for capturing gameplay as it happens. “Recall” mode will save the last few moments of gameplay whenever you press the record button. Turn this mode on if you want to make sure you save footage after it happens.
Set the length of the recording. The app lets you save 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, or five minutes per clip.
Tap the red button to start your recording or recall.
The recording will automatically end after the allotted time, but you can manually stop the recording, too. There are three ways to stop an active recording:
Tap the red recording icon at the top of the screen
Tap the “Stop Recording” button in the GameOn app
Or open the iOS action center and tap the red recording button
After the gameplay clip is captured, you can edit the footage in the GameOn app. The app lets you trim footage, add audio commentary, and even insert intros and reactions using your phone’s selfie camera. Once your clip is ready to publish, you can upload it to GameOn for other users to watch, or save it as a sharable link you can send to your friends.
