Next month, the classic mystery solving bunch The Hardy Boys is coming to Hulu. For you ‘80s and ‘90s babies, this is a TV adaptation of the longstanding children’s novel series, which dates back to the ‘20s... the 1920s. The books follow brothers Frank and Joe Hardy as they delve into dangerous and spooky mysteries in their town. If the popularity of true crime mysteries is any indication, this Hulu original is bound to be a hit.
The crime solving kids previously co-starred in another television show back in 1977, The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, which lasted for about 2 years. The remake seems to be aiming for an older crowd, with the same sort of self-aware, revisionist tone that powers The CW’s Riverdale and Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The trailer promises a team of young sleuths, a cursed town, and conspiracy cover ups, and though I was a Nancy Drew gal myself, I am excited to see where the series will go.
And if you’ve been seeking more teen adventures, seek no more: Season four of the widely loved anime My Hero Academia (dubbed version) is coming Dec. 4, so you’ll finally be able to catch up with Deku and his classmates in their battle to become pro superheroes. Other TV shows and movies coming to the streamer this month include the Lord of the Rings trilogy (Dec. 1), Angels & Demons (Dec. 1), and the ninth season of the Hulu original Letterkenny (Dec. 26). Plus: a bunch of holiday musicals.
