How to Use Social Media to Register to Vote
The 2020 presidential election is November 3, meaning the clock is ticking for voters who need to complete or update their registration. The good news
There was a time when streaming services could boast that they were the first to get [insert your favorite big theatrical hit], but that’s becoming increasingly rare in a time when streaming services have only grown more segmented, and also when there were no big theatrical hits last year.
At first glance, I was thoroughly unenthused by the lineup of content coming to Hulu in March, considering I’d only heard of approximately one of the newer ones: Ammonite (March 5), a queer romance loosely based on the life of pioneering paleontologist Mary Anning. Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan star in the film, which has been compared (largely unfavorably, though the reviews are OK) to Portrait of a Lady on Fire. “Is that all there is?” I wondered. So I googled the names of a bunch of other movies and...actually found a few that look promising.
Having already found time loop success with 2020's Palm Springs, Hulu returns to the Groundhog Day-contaminated well in Boss Fight (March 5), which seems to have fun playing with the conventions of the genre as it follows a man seemingly destined to be killed over and over again by a group of deadly assassins. Eva Green speaks in tongues (yowza) in Proxima (March 7), which looks to be an artier, French-ier take on the mediocre “woman astronaut goes to Mars” Netflix series Away.
Naughty Books (March 15) looks like a fascinating documentary about the rise of the self-published erotica market. Sister Aimee (March 15) promises to be a sharp satire about a woman televangelist who loses faith in the racket. Pink Wall (March 15) follows six years of a relationship between a couple played by Tatiana Maslany and Jay Duplass. In Tracks (March 15), it looks like Mia Wasikowska is going Wild in the Australian Outback. And the well-reviewed Hunter Hunter (March 19) appears to be an extremely bleak horror film about a serial killer in the woods that I will never, ever watch, but I’m glad to see Devon Sawa getting work.
Here’s everything coming to Hulu in March. Not a lot of marquee stuff, but don’t write it all off just because you don’t recognize the titles at a glance—we’ve still got a long vaccine rollout to power through before theaters reopen.
