While we can’t help you find a vaccination appointment—good luck, given how terribly we’ve orchestrated the process and turned it into a kind of free-for-all reminiscent of buying concert tickets, shoes, or GeForce 3080 cards—we can at least give you a useful way to see where you can get vaccinated around your general area.
According to numerous reports, Apple Maps will now start showing you COVID vaccination sites. All you have to do is search for “COVID-19 Vaccines” within the app, which should be one of the very first results as you start typing.
Tap it, and see every location around you that’s offering up a vaccine. Tap on any of them to find their hours and either a “Learn More” or “Make Appointment” link to their websites, which should hopefully help you begin the agonizing process of actually getting your hands on an arm shot.
If you’re not feeling like typing, you can also summon the same results by asking Siri, “Where can I get a COVID vaccination?” You’ll then have to tap “Open Maps” to bring up the app, where you’ll be able to see all the different vaccination sites near you.
If you don’t see any (or many) locations near you, don’t fret. Apple’s first take at this, using data from VaccineFinder, features approximately 20,000 locations. Apple plans to add more to Apple Maps over the next few weeks. Similarly, eligible businesses that are providing COVID testing or vaccinations can submit their own information to Apple, which might also then include the listing in Apple Maps.
In the meantime, don’t forget to enable COVID exposure notifications for your device (which may or may not require you to download a separate app for your state). While it feels like we’re slowly heading to victory against this disease, you should still take all the precautions you can to stay safe. And if that just requires you to tap your iPhone a few times, all the better.
